In my blog, I will be posting all of my shooting assignments and my Photoshop assignments along with an explanation of what the assignment was.
Final RefectionI have been taking photos for a long time. Whenever I got the change to take her grandparents camera for a bit, I would take as many photos as I could. I would take pretty good tubing photos on my family vacation in the summer but I didn’t know anything more than “the runner icon lets me capture thins in motion.” I took this class not just to get my technology credit, but to learn something about photography and how to take better photos. I am way more comfortable with a camera and I choose to shoot in Manual mode 99% of the time even though my family calls her crazy for doing so. I am so happy I decided to take this class because I know so much more about something that I love.
When I walked into the class the first day, I was pretty nervous to be honest but that totally could've been the "first day of school" nerves. When OD started talking, I knew I would like him because of his great sense of humor. After a few weeks, he gave us our first photo assignment which was composition. When he started explaining the cameras we would use, he said that they were point-and-shoots which made me nervous because I grew up using a DSLR. I asked him if I could use one of his and he said yes! Unlike some people, I feel as though my photos from the first photo assignments turned out pretty well. These are photos from the first four photo assignments. As the trimester went on, we learned about ISO, shutter speed, aperture and other key thing to take a good photo and my photos started to improve a bit. These are some photos from the last three photo assignments this trimester.
As I said earlier, I am very glad that I took this class. I have learned to much about taking photos, using different cameras, using Photoshop and so much more.
Visual Dictionary |
|
For this assignment, we had to choose a word that has a cool definition then put them on a canvas in photoshop and put pictures in to represent that word.
Visual PunsFor our visual puns assignment, we had to use photos from the internet to make puns in photoshop.
Photo 7For my photo 7 assignment, I decided to do macro because that was something I wasn't very familiar with. I found that using the macro setting on the camera is hard to use if you don't have the correct lighting. I also found that my best photo had been using natural light from the big window we have in our front room in our house.
Multiple MeFor this assignment, we had to take a bunch on pictures of one person doing different posses in one setting them edited them in Photoshop to make them all be in one photo.
Photo 6: ArchitectureFor my photo 6 assignment, I decided to take pictures of architecture. It was really fun to go around Saline and see all of the cool buildings and sculptures.

Portrait Assignment
For this assignment, we had to take two different portraits. One in the studio and one with natural light. After we had those photos, we had to go into Photoshop and make a black background and two white borders for our photos then put them all together to make what you see to the right. I learned how to problem solve during this assignment and I learned that I know how to do more than I think I do.

Photo 5, EventThis past weekend, my family had our annual pumpkin carving party so I decided to take pictures of our pumpkins. I had to adjust the shutter speed and aperture a lot because the pumpkins had different amount of light coming through them based on the designs.

Photoshop TutorialsFor this assignment, we had to find tutorials for Photoshop online and do them to learn more about Photoshop. First, we had to do the "Pop of Color" assignment were we took a photo, made it black and white, then used the history brush to put color back into the photo. After we finished that, we could search the web to find tutorials we were interested in. I found this marble tutorial interesting and decided to try it out. I learned what different filters look like and what changing the top layer can do to the photo. It was pretty simple but I really like how it turned out!

|
School ContextFor this assignment, we had to take a photo of our school and edit it in Photoshop to change the context by putting in filters and adding other images.

Photo Assignment 4, Still LifeFor this assignment, I took pictures of things I use in my everyday life including my favorite book, my favorite candle and my phone with my favorite app open on it. When I edited my best photo, I adjusted the brightness and the contrast to bring out the colors on the book and make the background a little darker.

Photo Assignment 3, Black & White
For this assignment, all I had to do was adjust the brightness and change the filter of the photos to black and white. I like how different the photos look on black and white than in color. I also like how Natalie's shirt looks with this photo.
|
|
Photo Assignment 2, PeopleI didn't do much while editing this photo. All I did was bump up the contrast and bump down the brightness. I really liked being able to use "Manual Mode" the whole photo shoot with my brother and my friend Lindsay because I could get exactly what I wanted.

Car Retouch AssignmentFor this assignment, we have to take the original photo if the care and put it in Photoshop to edit it and make it look like the demo. I learned more things that Photoshop can do for you can I'm excited to be able to use these tools again!

Photo Assignment 1, Nature/Landscape |
|
Pop ArtFor this assignment, we had to take 2 different photos and edit them in "Photoshop" to make them look like pop art.
During this assignment, I learned how to make photos different colors and how to put more than one copy of a photo into one image. I liked getting to know photoshop more and learning what I can do in it.
|
|
Shutter Speed & ApertureFor this assignment, we had to take 4 of the same picture and each time we had to change the aperture or shutter speed
|
|
CompositionIn this assignment, we had to take 11 different photos with a different element in each photo.
"Hens and Chicks" represents the rule of thirds. If there was a grid, the plant would be on the left vertical line
"Flower" represents space. There is one flower surrounded by wood chips "Fence" represents lines . It shows vertical lines on the wooden fence "Fountain" represents perspective. You normally wouldn't look at a fountain from just the top. "Hydrangea" represents symmetry. These two hydrangeas look symmetrical. "Bloom Basket" represents color. All of the flowers are very colorful "Flags" represents depth of field. It puts the flags in focus. "Pine Cones" represent texture. You can see the unique texture of the pine cones. "Leaf" represents pattern. You can see the pattern on the leaf. "Shrooms" represents balance. It was more than one point of interest. |
